Job Description:

CohesionForce is actively seeking candidates for a Systems Safety to become part of our team in Huntsville, AL.  CohesionForce is a small software engineering company supporting high-visibility customers in the Missile Defense community.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

This position is responsible for reviewing, establishing, and implementing safety requirements associated with support equipment, facilities, operations, and products. The position requires experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of a System Safety Program. This includes the identification and evaluation of system safety and health hazards, definition of risk levels, and management of the probability and severity of all hazards associated with installation/integration, use, and disposal of hardware. This position will develop and maintain all necessary documentation necessary to implement and maintain a System Safety Program.

The successful candidate will be able to independently develop Safety documents, such as System Safety Program Safety Assessments Reports (SAR); perform audits; and report the effectiveness of the system safety program. The individual will work closely with the Huntsville Health and Safety Sector manager to ensure all requirements align with corporate policies. Metric reports will be provided as necessary. The candidate will participate in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities, and harm to personnel. The individual will be responsible for assisting in the identification of the causes and the corrective actions necessary to prevent re-occurrence. The candidate will develop System Safety Program Safety Assessments Reports (SAR) as required. The individual will possess the skills to develop implement and maintain a Hazardous Material Management Program.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, the candidate must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and
abilities listed below.

– DOD security clearance
– Demonstrated experience in one or more systems safety engineering job function as described above.
– Demonstrated leadership experience
– Experience analyzing requirements at all levels within the system to identify or create safety critical requirements and assigning appropriate criticality index and level of rigor to SW requirements
– Experience documenting hazard analysis and test results in a Hazard Tracking System
– Experience developing test cases to satisfy safety requirements
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, science, cybersecurity, IT, or technology-related field degree with 6-10 years of experience, or a Master’s degree in a related field with less than 6 years of experience. (Equivalent experience will be considered.)
– Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate in a small, fast-moving team environment.
– Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results within limited oversight.
– Excellent written and verbal communiation skills.
– Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the capability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

– Experience with software supply chain security practices (SLSA, Sigstore/Cosign ecosystem)
– Missile Defense experience
– Experience developing analysis products in support of the Safety Assessment Report (SAR)
including a Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA)
– Experience generating MIL-STD-882 type analyses
– Experience documenting hazard analysis and test results in a Hazard Tracking System
– Experience developing test cases to satisfy safety requirements
– Experience reviewing code for application of safety best coding practices
– Experience performing functions such as installing, repairing, inspecting, overhauling,
adjusting, aligning, rigging, and calibrating military structures,
systems, and components preferred.
– Experience with the following: Mil-Std 882 System Safety; Mil-Std 1432 Human Factors; Mil Hdbk
454 General Guideline for Electronic Equipment; OSHA Health Standard; MIL
STD 1808; AMCOM Policy 385-17.
– Experience with model-based approaches and tools with experience in UML and DoDAF.
